Our parish maintains its own Orthodox Christian cemetery at 362 Westfield Road, Meriden, in order to bury members of the parish or another Orthodox parish and their immediate family. All requests should be directed to the Cemetery Chairperson, Dan Veronick.

The Cemetery is governed by its bylaws, available here in full as approved in 2024.

The Cemetery is the property of the SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Meriden, Connecticut, and is located at 362 Westfield Road, Meriden, Connecticut. This is an Orthodox Cemetery which is blessed to be used according to the Canons and rules of the Orthodox Church.

Single or multiple plots. Plots may be purchased single or multiple, for use by members of the Parish or another Orthodox Parish and their immediate family. Immediate family is defined as the head of household, spouse, or prior spouse. Plots for dependent children, 17 years or less, may only be purchased when needed. Plots for family members baptized (or otherwise canonically received) in the Orthodox faith may be purchased upon approval of the Cemetery Committee and the Parish Priest.

Burial restrictions. Burial is restricted to Parishioners, here defined as members of the Parish and their immediate family or members of another Orthodox Parish, who have been baptized (or otherwise canonically received) in the Orthodox Faith.

In the case of a non-Orthodox spouse or dependent child of a Parishioner, permission shall be obtained from the Parish Priest and the commitment is performed by an Orthodox Priest.

The Cemetery  Committee asks your assistance in preserving clean and sacred Cemetery grounds and compliance with our Cemetery ByLaws.

• Planting is permitted directly in front of the base of the monument in the 12 inch area on the burial side. Please use topsoil or potting soil only.
• Only summer annual flowers, along with spring tulips, daffodils and hyacinths bulbs are permitted.
• Easter flowers are permitted during the Easter season.  Christmas boxes are permitted during the period November 11th to March 15th.
• American flags honoring our veterans are permitted at a flush marker or footstone in absence of an upright monument.

The following items are not permitted on plots:

• Enclosures or borders of any kind, such as fences, curbs, pavers, landscape edging, corner posts and boundary markers.
• Trees, shrubs, bushes or perennials (plants that return each year) including azalea, rose bushes, pachysandra, day lilies, irises, or hosta.
• Artificial flowers/decorations, stones, wood chips (mulch), vases, statues, vigil lights, bric-a-brac or any similar item.

Please take all weeds, debris, etc. with you when leaving the Cemetery.
